Careful, this website is still under construction.
Hi, I'm Tomi, a software engineer based in Lagos, Nigeria. My work lies at the intersection of multiple fast-growing fields, including cloud computing, devops, data engineering, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
As a developer with hybrid skills, I love to work with cross-functional teams while bridging the gap between the design, development, test and management of a product.
I don't always have to build a product from scratch. For an existing product, I add new features, improve code robustness, or redesign an architecture.
I am committed to continously learning and sharing my knowledge with the tech community.
If you want to discuss how we can collaborate, or would like me to speak at an event/workshop, feel free to contact me. I am open to hear your ideas, concerns, or the amazing product you're building.
What's your technical background? Do you have a degree?
I have a bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering where I learned and practiced the fundamentals of electronics, automation, control systems, mechanics, and embedded systems.
When it comes to my current area of specialty, I developed my skills through self-studying.
What languages do you speak?
Fluent in English and Yoruba. I know about 2000 Spanish words thanks to Duolingo, but that's about it. Meaning you may catch me saying a few Spanish phrases, but I'm not fluent enough to tour Spain or Mexico all by myself with ease.
Do you contribute to open-source projects?
At the moment, no. I'm still looking to make my first contribution.
Would you be interested in co-founding a startup?
It largely depends on the problem(s) to be solved, urgency, and the kind of team I will be working with.
What is your WPM / typing speed?
I churn out code at an average speed of 45WPM. For regular English words, I do 70 to 90 WPM.
What is your software stack?
Check out the "tools and technologies" section on my portfolio page for the IDEs, OS, frameworks and packages I use.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by problems a bit beyond my skillset because I believe that the highest growth comes from taking up a task you're not quite qualified for, but you know enough that you can learn how to solve it.
What are your hobbies?
I engage in activities that makes me smarter, productive or simply relax my neurons.
Most of these activities relates to music, film-making, vlogs, military documentaries/movies, and DIYs.
Who are your favourite SWE youtubers?
My top of the list software developer youtubers are Joma Oppa and Kalle Hallden.
Other SWE youtubers I follow are Kenny Gunderman, Philipp Lackner, Gyasi Linje, Jeremiah Peoples, Mayuko, Ben Awad, Adrian Twarog, DonTheDeveloper, ForrestKnight, TechWithTim, Aaron Jack, Andrew Hu, CodingWithMitch, Daniel Bourke and Dennis Ivy.
Where else can I find you?
I answer tech questions on Quora, actively create content on LinkedIn, post videos on YouTube, and Instagram, barely use Twitter, yet to have my first stream on Twitch, and I also talk on The Traversing AI with Tomi podcast. Links to all of my social platforms can be found at the footer down below.
